Credit Union House, located on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., serves as the credit union movement’s front door for advocacy, connection, and storytelling.

Established in 2001 by every state credit union league/association and the American Association of Credit Union Leagues, the House provides a welcoming space where industry leaders, policymakers, and partners come together to advance the credit union difference. As it celebrates its 25th anniversary, Credit Union House is undergoing a full modernization and rebrand to reflect the future of the movement and strengthen its role as a platform for impact.

Credit unions, the League System, America's Credit Unions, and system partners are all part of something bigger, a movement built on purpose, connection, and service. Coast to coast, more than 144 million members rely on us to move the mission forward with strength, care, and clarity.

Credit unions reinvest where it matters. in people and in communities. That’s the heart of our movement. Whether it’s a first car, a home, a family business, or a path to stability, credit unions show up with real support and lasting impact. Credit Union House exists to make that work visible in Washington, D.C.

For over two decades, we’ve been the home base for connection and strategy, a place where credit union voices are heard, where presence carries purpose, and where the legacy of people helping people meets the progress of a future-focused movement.

Who uses Credit Union House?

Credit Union House is owned collectively by the credit union system.

Leagues and Associations that represent credit unions and their members own it on behalf of the movement. 

It serves as a gathering place for anyone working to advance the credit union mission.

Groups outside the Credit Union House are also able to rent the House as a venue when not in use for credit union events. 

 

 

 

What is the Modernization Project?

The Modernization Project is an endeavor beyond a physical renovation. We are modernizing and elevating the epicenter of credit union advocacy in our nation’s capital.

  • We will enhance how we curate and tell the story, value, and impact credit unions bring their members and communities.
  • We will showcase the current capabilities and future focus of credit unions through the “space and experience” of a revitalized event center.
  • It will effectively translate the purpose of the House to the stakeholders across the movement and in the public policy arena.
  • The Modernization Project will enable the Credit Union League System, America’s Credit Unions, and its partners to leverage the full potential of Credit Union House as an advocacy messaging channel.     
Is Credit Union House open to the public?

Credit Union House is primarily used for industry events and advocacy activities. Visits can be arranged in advance for media, partners, and credit union stakeholders. 

Credit Union House is currently closed for renovations. 

What improvements are being made?
  • Exterior and structural repairs for both buildings, such as roof replacement, elevator and stair relocation, façade restoration, and mechanical unit replacement.
  • Infrastructure upgrades: Investing capital for significant improvements to more accessible, state-of-the-art equipment and technology.
  •  A tailored, elevated, and credit union-forward design will amplify advocacy messaging and impact.
  • Improved amenities and event technology to support various meeting needs.
